Spelling chirospilus in Bleeker 1872: Pl. 288 (fig. 1) [Perc Pl. 10] [ref. 4861] is an unjustified emendation. •Synonym of Pseudanthias squamipinnis (Peters 1855) -- (Randall & Pyle 2001:34 [ref. 25690], Parenti & Randall 2020:41 [ref. 37354]). •Valid as Pseudanthias cheirospilos (Bleeker 1857) -- (Heemstra & Heemstra 2022:111 [ref. 39746]). Current status: Valid as Pseudanthias cheirospilos (Bleeker 1857). Anthiadidae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: western Indonesia east to Society Islands (French Polynesia), north to southern Korea and central Japan, south to Western Australia, New Caledonia, Lord Howe Island (Australia) and Tonga.
