Composite species; usage of species name here restricted to Syrian populations, based on BMNH syntypes; lectotype selection needed. •Synonym of Tristramella simonis (Günther 1864), but a valid subspecies -- (Krupp & Schneider 1989:403 [ref. 13651] with question, Snoeks & Teugels 1991:520 [ref. 20951]). •Valid as Tristramella magdalenae (Lortet 1883) -- (Trewavas 1942:535 [ref. 4452], Çiçek et al. 2023:468 [ref. 40601], Saad et al. 2023:40 [ref. 40501], Çiçek et al. 2024:335 [ref. 40789]). Current status: Valid as Tristramella magdalenae (Lortet 1883). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Middle East: swamps and pools in Damascus area (Syria). Hula Lake and Lake Kinneret (Israel) (there extinct). Habitat: freshwater.
