vulcani, Tilapia Trewavas [E.] 1933:315, Fig. 1 [The Journal of the Linnean Society of London. Zoology v. 38 (no. 259); ref. 16530] Crater Lake A of Central Island, Lake Rudolf [Lake Turkana], Kenya. Syntypes: (7) BMNH 1933.2.23.71-76 (7?). Additional material: BMNH 1933.2.23.78-85 (8, young). Tilapia crassispina Arambourg 1948, based on fossils, is also referred to the subspecies vulcani by Trewavas & Teugels 1991:334 [ref. 20954]. •Synonym of Oreochromis niloticus (Linnaeus 1758), but a valid subspecies vulcani Trewavas 1933 -- (Trewavas & Teugels 1991:334 [ref. 20954], Seegers et al. 2003:44 [ref. 28087], Çiçek et al. 2024:333 [ref. 40789]). Current status: Synonym of Oreochromis niloticus (Linnaeus 1758). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae.
