Current status: Valid as Catoprion mento (Cuvier 1819). Serrasalmidae: Serrasalminae. Distribution: South America: western Amazon, Orinoco and upper Paraguay River basins (Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela). Habitat: freshwater.
