Syntypes (2): out of RMNH 7182 (1) Cauer, ?7183 (many); BMNH 1867.11.28.306 (1) Ambon. Kottelat 2013 has this under Bleeker 1855:71; with different type. •Valid as Moringua macrochir Bleeker 1853 -- (Dingerkus & Séret 1992:175 [ref. 22392], Allen 2000:84 [ref. 37268], Zhang et al. 2010:221 [ref. 31511], Fricke et al. 2011:348 [ref. 31242], Allen & Erdmann 2012:71 [ref. 31980], Kottelat 2013:40 [ref. 32989], Ho et al. 2015:150 [ref. 34130] with question, Fricke et al. 2018:32 [ref. 35805], Eudeline 2022:132 [ref. 39191], Allen & Erdmann 2024:79 [ref. 40796]). Current status: Valid as Moringua macrochir Bleeker 1853. Moringuidae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: East Africa, Mayotte (France) and Madagascar east to Phoenix Islands and Line Islands (Kiribati). Habitat: marine.
