Holotype (unique): BMNH 1875.8.4.7 (dry, stuffed). Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:106 [ref. 29155]. •Questionably a synonym of Rita rita (Hamilton 1822) -- (Talwar & Jhingran 1991:578 [ref. 20764]). •Valid as Rita sacerdotum Anderson 1879 -- (Ferraris 1999:19 [ref. 23839], Ng 2004:1 [ref. 27758], Jayaram 2006:21 [ref. 28762], Ferraris 2007:106 [ref. 29155], Kottelat 2013:266 [ref. 32989], Lal et al. 2017:80 [ref. 34862], Grant 2020:26 [ref. 38010]). Current status: Valid as Rita sacerdotum Anderson 1879. Ritidae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Irrawaddy, Sittang and Salween River basins (Myanmar and western Thailand). Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
