Holotype (unique): ZSI F12910. Type catalog: Menon & Yazdani 1968:158 [ref. 20743], Menon & Rama-Rao 1975:44 [ref. 22148]. Originally as valde-rostratus. Figured in Alcock 1898: Pl. 24 (fig. 2) [ref. 20534]. •Valid as Crossorhombus valderostratus (Alcock 1890) -- (Hensley 1986:857 [ref. 5669], Hensley & Randall 1993:1125 [ref. 22080], Li & Wang 1995:190 [ref. 16193], Manilo & Bogorodsky 2003:S122 [ref. 27377], Mishra & Krishnan 2003:46 [ref. 27712], Hoese & Bray 2006:1817 [ref. 29000], Ohashi & Motomura 2012:147 [ref. 32404], Fricke et al. 2018:370 [ref. 35805], Amaoka & Ho 2019:182 [ref. 37188], Inoue et al. 2020:20 [ref. 38465], Hensley & Amaoka 2022:333 [ref. 40220]). Current status: Valid as Crossorhombus valderostratus (Alcock 1890). Bothidae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), East Africa, Seychelles and Madagascar east to Philippines, north to Miyazaki Prefecture (Kyushu, southern Japan), south to northern Australia. Habitat: marine.
