similis, Oxyporhamphus micropterus Bruun [A. F.] 1935:17, Pl. 1 (fig. 1) [Dana Report No. 6; ref. 5130] Atlantic. Holotype: ZMUC 345 (apparently lost). Paratypes: ZMUC 3 (1), 13 (1), 229-233 (5), 529-531 (3), 959-963 (5), 1134 (1), P34223-27 (5). Type catalog: Nielsen 1974:54 [ref. 9588]. Holotype established in caption to Pl. 1. •Synonym of Oxyporhamphus micropterus (Valenciennes 1847), but a valid subspecies similis Bruun 1935 as described -- (Collette & Parin 1990:581 [ref. 16473], Monteiro et al. 1998:400 [ref. 23732], Smith-Vaniz et al. 1999:174 [ref. 25013], Collette et al. 2003:102 [ref. 26784], Collette 2003:1144 [ref. 26981], Collette 2004:13, 27 [ref. 27583], Collette 2016:2163 [ref. 34601], Collette & Bemis 2019:127 [ref. 37342]). •Valid as Oxyporhamphus similis Bruun 1935 -- (Wirtz et al. 2013:121 [ref. 32972], Fermon et al. 2022:269 [ref. 39448]). Current status: Valid as Oxyporhamphus similis Bruun 1935. Hemiramphidae. Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: Senegal south to Angola, including Cape Verde Islands. Habitat: marine.
