Kottelat's (2013) correction of Eschmeyer came after it had been corrected online many months earlier. •Synonym of Gnathopogon argentatus (Sauvage & Dabry de Thiersant 1874) -- (Lu et al. 1977:487 [ref. 2850], Yue in Chen et al. 1998:315 [ref. 23878]). •Synonym of Squalidus argentatus (Sauvage & Dabry de Thiersant 1874) -- (Chen & Chang 2007:70 [ref. 29029], Kottelat 2013:164 [ref. 32989], Zhang et al. 2016:80 [ref. 34477], Zhang et al. 2019:230 [ref. 36699] as hsüi). Current status: Synonym of Squalidus argentatus (Sauvage & Dabry de Thiersant 1874). Gobionidae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
