Type catalog: Provenzano et al. 1998:17 [ref. 24196]. •Valid as Serrasalmus gouldingi Fink & Machado-Allison 1992 -- (Machado-Allison 2002:77 [ref. 27640], Jégu in Reis et al. 2003:190 [ref. 27061], Freeman et al. 2007:16 [ref. 29167], Machado-Allison et al. 2009:128 [ref. 30953], Barriga Salazar 2014:109 [ref. 35745], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:38 [ref. 35633], Silvano et al. 2020:187 [ref. 38133]). Current status: Valid as Serrasalmus gouldingi Fink & Machado-Allison 1992. Serrasalmidae: Serrasalminae. Distribution: South America: Amazon and Orinoco River basins (Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela). Habitat: freshwater.
