Holotype: MBUCV-V-16421. Paratypes: MBUCV-V-20803 (1), MCNG 21757 (2), UMMZ 219203 (2). Type catalog: Provenzano et al. 1998:14-15 [ref. 24196]. •Valid as Pristobrycon maculipinnis Fink & Machado-Allison 1992 -- (Machado-Allison 2002:53 [ref. 27640], Jégu in Reis et al. 2003:188 [ref. 27061], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:37 [ref. 35633], Silvano et al. 2020:180 [ref. 38133]). •Valid as Serrasalmus maculipinnis (Fink & Machado-Allison 1992) -- (Kolmann et al. 2020:10 [ref. 37721]). Current status: Valid as Serrasalmus maculipinnis (Fink & Machado-Allison 1992). Serrasalmidae: Serrasalminae. Distribution: South America: Amazon River basin (Venezuela and Colombia). Habitat: freshwater.
