Holotype: MZUSP 36964. Paratypes: MZUSP 36965 (2). Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:416 [ref. 29155]. •Valid as Trichomycterus castroi de Pinna 1992 -- (Burgess & Finley 1996:168 [ref. 22901], Fernández & Bichuette 2002:278 [ref. 26539], López et al. 2002:59 [ref. 26808], de Pinna & Wosiacki in Reis et al. 2003:280 [ref. 27061], Bockmann et al. 2004:227 [ref. 27855], Ferraris 2007:416 [ref. 29155], Barbosa & Costa 2008:184 [ref. 29961], García-Melo et al. 2016:238 [ref. 34471]). •Valid as Cambeva castroi (de Pinna 1992) -- (Katz et al. 2018:563 [ref. 36330], Reis et al. 2020:470 [ref. 38364], Costa et al. 2022:7 [ref. 39261]). Current status: Valid as Cambeva castroi (de Pinna 1992). Trichomycteridae: Trichomycterinae. Distribution: South America: Iguaçu River basin (southern Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
