H.)] 1855:444 [Bericht über die zur Bekanntmachung geeigneten Verhandlungen der Königlichen Preussischen Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Berlin 1855; ref. 3449] Mozambique, western Indian Ocean. Holotype (unique): ZMB 2101. Also described as new in Peters 1855:253 [ref. 13448]. The genus is feminine, and the species name is adjectival, so the correct species name is signata when in Amoya. •Valid as Amoya signatus (Peters 1855) -- (Hoese 1986:778 [ref. 5670], Goren & Dor 1994:63 [ref. 25356], Fricke 1999:498 [ref. 24106]). •Valid as Amoya signata (Peters 1855) -- (Fricke et al. 2009:99 [ref. 30213], Golani & Bogorodsky 2010:81 [ref. 35264] as signatus, Allen 2015:7 [ref. 33699]). •Valid as Acentrogobius signatus (Peters 1855) -- (Allen 2015:7 [ref. 33699], Allen 2017:108 [ref. 35601], Fricke et al. 2018:323 [ref. 35805]). Current status: Valid as Acentrogobius signatus (Peters 1855). Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: East Africa, Seychelles and Madagascar to Réunion (western Mascarenes). Habitat: marine.
