mongolicus, Leptocephalus Basilewsky [S.] 1855:234, Pl. 4 (fig. 2) [Nouveaux mémoires de la Société impériale des naturalistes de Moscou v. 10; ref. 200] "In winter, brought to Beijing frozen from Mongolia." Mongolia and Manchuria, northern China. Lectotype: Pl. 4 (fig. 2). The same as Culter mongolicus Basilewsky 1855:237 in same work. Spelled mongolensis on Pl. 4. Bogutskaya & Naseka 2004:54 gave precedence to the spelling mongolicus and designated the figured specimen in Pl. 4 (fig. 2) as lectotype. •Valid as Erythroculter mongolicus (Basilewsky 1855), subspecies mongolicus (Basilewsky 1855) -- (Cheng & Zhou 1997:130 [ref. 26385]). •Valid as Erythroculter mongolicus (Basilewsky 1855) -- (Wang et al. 2001:100 [ref. 26566]). •Valid as Chanodichthys mongolicus (Basilewsky 1855) -- (Berg 1949:803 [ref. 20661], Bogutskaya & Naseka 1996:24 [ref. 22798], Reshetnikov et al. 1997:736 [ref. 24702], Naseka 1998:75 [ref. 23590], Bogutskaya et al. 2001:43 [ref. 26178], Bogutskaya & Naseka 2004:54 [ref. 28183], Kottelat 2006:29 [ref. 28831], Ocock et al. 2006:32 [ref. 28933], Bogutskaya et al. 2008:317 [ref. 30085], Kottelat 2013:87 [ref. 32989], Dyldin et al. 2023:[13] [ref. 40328]). Current status: Valid as Chanodichthys mongolicus (Basilewsky 1855). Xenocyprididae. Distribution: East Asia: Vietnam, Taiwan, China, Russia, Mongolia, Korea and Japan. Habitat: freshwater.
