Current status: Valid as Cociella heemstrai Knapp 1996. Platycephalidae. Distribution: Red Sea; Indo-Western Pacific: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), East Africa, Seychelles, Comoros and Madagascar east to Solomon Islands, north to southern Japan, south to New Caledonia. Habitat: marine.
