Paratypes: KIZ 9309012-16 (5). •Valid as Pseudocrossocheilus megalophthalmus (Chen, Yang & Cui 2006) -- (Yuan et al. 2008:46 [ref. 29667]). •Valid as Sinocrossocheilus megalophthalmus Chen, Yang & Cui 2006 -- (Romero et al. 2009 [ref. 30522], Zhao et al. 2011:1550 [ref. 31493], Ma & Zhao 2012:109 [ref. 34891]). •Valid as Hongshuia megalophthalmus (Chen, Yang & Cui 2006) -- (Zhang et al. 2016:112 [ref. 34477], Zeng et al. 2022:10 [ref. 39775]). Current status: Valid as Hongshuia megalophthalmus (Chen, Yang & Cui 2006). Cyprinidae: Labeoninae. Distribution: East Asia: Hongshui He drainage, middle Pearl River basin, Guangxi Province, China. Habitat: freshwater.
