H.] 2013:248, Figs. 1-2 [Neotropical Ichthyology v. 11 (no. 2); ref. 32751] Bahia, Iaçu, rio Paraguaçu at Fazenda Os Touros, 18 km from Iaçu, 12°42'10.6"S, 40°07'47"W, elevation 143 meters, Brazil. Holotype: MZUSP 110603. Paratypes:MZUSP, NUP, UFBA. Plus non-type specimens. Type catalog: Oliveira et al. 2022:23 [ref. 39255]. •Valid as Hypostomus jaguar Zanata, Sardeiro & Zawadzki 2013 -- (Zanata & Pitanga 2016:231 [ref. 34535], Zawadzki et al. 2016:272 [ref. 34908], Zawadzki et al. 2017:12 [ref. 35355], Ramos et al. 2017:8 [ref. 35396], Zawadzki et al. 2017:571 [ref. 35666], Anjos et al. 2019:[1] [ref. 37130], Vita et al. 2020:[5] [ref. 37506], Silva et al. 2020:11 [ref. 37809], Vieira-Guimarães et al. 2024:47 [ref. 41258]). Current status: Valid as Hypostomus jaguar Zanata, Sardeiro & Zawadzki 2013. Loricariidae: Hypostominae. Distribution: South America: Jequiriçá, Paraguaçu and Una River drainages, Bahia State (Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
