R.], Erpenbeck [D.] & Reichenbacher [B.] 2014:329, Figs. 2a-b, 3, 4a-d, 5a-e, 6a [Zoologischer Anzeiger v. 253; ref. 33203] Shur River, along road Bandar Abbas - Minab, 20 km east of Bandar Abbas, Hormuzgan Province, Iran, 27°19'37.6''N, 56°28'10.2''E, altitude 2 meters. Holotype: ZM-CBSU 225. Paratypes: ZM-CBSU (14). Appeared in the key of Gholami et al. 2013:136 [ref. 33004] without a description. •Valid as Aphanius furcatus Teimori, Esmaeili, Erpenbeck & Reichenbacher 2014 -- (Jouladeh-Roudbar et al. 2015:893 [ref. 34062], Teimori et al. 2015:90 [ref. 34095], Esmaeili et al. 2015:122 [ref. 35030], Esmaeili et al. 2017:90 [ref. 35254], Freyhof et al. 2017:561 [ref. 35649], Esmaeili et al. 2018:72 [ref. 36089], Esmaeili et al. 2018:5 [ref. 36738], Kärst et al. 2020:100 [ref. 38165]). •Valid as Aphaniops furcatus (Teimori, Esmaeili, Erpenbeck & Reichenbacher 2014) -- (Charmpila et al. 2020:[2] [ref. 37697], Esmaeili et al. 2020:5 [ref. 37446], Freyhof & Yoğurtçuoğlu 2020:428 [ref. 37656]). Current status: Valid as Aphaniops furcatus (Teimori, Esmaeili, Erpenbeck & Reichenbacher 2014). Aphaniidae. Distribution: Middle East: Salty rivers and hot sulphuric springs, Hormuz and Makran basins (Hormuzgan and Fars, southern Iran). Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
