Current status: Valid as Pontinus nigerimum Eschmeyer 1983. Scorpaenidae: Scorpaeninae. Distribution: Indian Ocean: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), Mozambique, Madagascar and western Mascarenes (La RĂ©union) east to Pakistan and Chagos Archipelago (British Indian Ocean Territory); Andaman Islands (India). Habitat: marine.
