froebelii, Amphilophus Agassiz [L.] 1859:408 [Proceedings of the Boston Society of Natural History v. 6 (1856-1859); ref. 74] Holotype (unique): MCZ (missing). Entire description consists of, "The last [genus] he called Amphilophus Froebelii, which is peculiar in not having the ordinary fleshy lips, but a large triangular lobe projecting above the upper and below the lower jaw, like the nasal appendages of some bats." Typically this could be regarded as not available, no distinguishing features provided; from Lake Nicaragua.
