Replacement Name. Current status: Synonym of Dactyloscopus amnis Miller & Briggs 1962. Dactyloscopidae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.

C.] 1962:1, Figs. 1, 2 (above) [Occasional Papers of the Museum of Zoology University of Michigan No. 627; ref. 6188] About 2 miles above the mouth of Río Papagayo, about 25 miles southeast of Acapulco, Guerrero, southern Mexico. Holotype: UMMZ 179550. Paratypes: CAS-SU 60540 (2); UBC 61-133 (7); UMMZ 178500 [or 178599] (1), 179957 (1, allotype), 179958 (1); USNM 197405 (2). Type catalog: Springer & Orrell 1996:12 [ref. 22274]. •Valid as Dactyloscopus amnis Miller & Briggs 1962 -- (Dawson 1975:15 [ref. 7121], Villa 1982:214 [ref. 36708], Castro-Aguirre et al. 1999:402 [ref. 24550], Nelson et al. 2004:162 [ref. 27807], Miller 2006:386 [ref. 28615], Patzner et al. 2009:471 [ref. 30396], Page et al. 2013:167 [ref. 32708], Angulo et al. 2013:1006 [ref. 33194], Galván-Villa et al. 2016:148 [ref. 34871], Romero-Berny et al. 2018:92 [ref. 35859], Angulo et al. 2023:68 [ref. 40676]). Current status: Valid as Dactyloscopus amnis Miller & Briggs 1962. Dactyloscopidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: southern Gulf of California (Mexico) south to Panama. IUCN (2019): Least Concern. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.

Subjectively invalid; secondarily preoccupied in Dactyloscopus by Dactyloscopus crossotus Starks 1913, replaced by Dactyloscopus thysanotus Böhlke 1966 (but see Art. 59.3 of the Code). •Synonym of Dactyloscopus amnis Miller & Briggs 1962 -- (Dawson 1975:15 [ref. 7121]). 2°Homonym.
