Fowler did not mention types for this species; therefore they are treated here as syntypes. •Synonym of Hypsoblennius brevipinnis (Günther 1861) -- (Bath 1996:90 [ref. 22687]). Current status: Synonym of Hypsoblennius brevipinnis (Günther 1861). Blenniidae: Salariinae. Habitat: marine.

Paralectotype: BMNH 1855.9.19.751 (1) Sandwich Is. Also appeared as new in Günther 1862:373 [4] [ref. 1968]. Lectotype selected by Krejsa 1960:331 [ref. 11927].
