Paratypes: FMNH 116467 (2); LACM 56288-1 (2); NLU 78593 (2); UMMZ 197087 (32). •Valid as Leptophilypnus guatemalensis Thacker & Pezold 2006 -- (Van Tassell 2011:148 [ref. 31732], Roberts 2013:85 [ref. 32684], Parenti 2021:50 [ref. 38603], Barrientos et al. 2023:272 [ref. 41235], Page et al. 2023:120 [ref. 40505], Quintana 2024:6 [ref. 41186]). Current status: Valid as Leptophilypnus guatemalensis Thacker & Pezold 2006. Eleotridae: Eleotrinae. Distribution: Southern North America: upper Rio Usumacinta system draining into the Gulf of Mexico west of Yucatan Peninsula (Guatemala). Habitat: freshwater.

Eleotris macrolepis Meek 1914 is secondarily preoccupied by Culius macrolepis Bleeker 1875 when both are in the genus Eleotris (see Weber 1907 [ref. 4599]). Next available name is Microeleotris panamensis Meek & Hildebrand 1916. •Synonym of Leptophilypnus fluviatilis Meek & Hildebrand 1916 -- (Miller 1998:277, 278 [ref. 24950]). •Synonym of Leptophilypnus panamensis (Meek & Hildebrand 1916) -- (Grey 1947:142 [ref. 12302], Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:661 [ref. 27061], Thacker et al. 2006:492 [ref. 28798]). •Valid as Leptophilypnus macrolepis (Meek 1914) -- (Parenti 2021:50 [ref. 38603]). 2°Homonym.
