Paralectotypes: (3) ?BMNH 1903.5.15.439 (1), CAS-SU 6948 (?now 2). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:50 [ref. 12291] with a holotype. Author is C. H. Gilbert. Original genus should have been spelled Pisodnophis. Lectotype established in Gilbert & Starks 1904, Pl. 7 (fig. 12) [ref. 1639]. •Valid as Pisodonophis daspilotus Gilbert 1898 -- (McCosker 1977:83 [ref. 6836], Allen & Robertson 1994:54 [ref. 22193], McCosker & Rosenblatt in Fischer et al. 1995:1340 [ref. 22830], Castro-Aguirre et al. 1999:98 [ref. 24550], Nelson et al. 2004:63 [ref. 27807], Ji & Kim 2011:61 [ref. 31152], Page et al. 2013:64 [ref. 32708], Mohanty et al. 2023:10 [ref. 40223], Page et al. 2023:55 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Pisodonophis daspilotus Gilbert 1898. Ophichthidae: Ophichthinae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific. Habitat: marine.

Holotype (unique): BMNH 1902.7.29.51. •Synonym of Pisodonophis daspilotus Gilbert 1898 -- (J. M. McCosker, pers. comm. 6/2001). Current status: Synonym of Pisodonophis daspilotus Gilbert 1898.
