No types known. Apparently not an original description; based on guttatus in Bloch & Schneider, but perhaps not the same species. Apparently can be deleted as a misidentification. Acanthurus marginatus Valenciennes 1835, based on Kittlitz figure, is available to use in place of guttatus Kittlitz. •In the synonymy of Ctenochaetus marginatus (Valenciennes 1835) -- (Randall 1988:60 [ref. 14257], Randall & Clements 2001:18 [ref. 25453]). 1°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Ctenochaetus marginatus (Valenciennes 1835). Acanthuridae.
