Types mentioned: Paepke 1995:92 [ref. 21847], Zarske & Géry 1995:115, Fig. 10 [ref. 22674]. •Valid, placement uncertain -- (Weitzman & Palmer 1997:238 [ref. 22743]). •Valid as Hyphessobrycon pulchripinnis Ahl 1937 -- (Zarske & Géry 1995:119 [ref. 22674], Lima & Malabarba in Reis et al. 2003:139 [ref. 27061], Mirande 2010:509 [ref. 31006], Lima & Flausino 2016:94 [ref. 34408], Carvalho et al. 2017:9 [ref. 35509], Pastana et al. 2017:13 [ref. 35596]). Current status: Valid as Hyphessobrycon pulchripinnis Ahl 1937. Acestrorhamphidae: Hyphessobryconinae. Distribution: Tapajós River basin, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.

erythrophthalmus, Hemigrammus Ladiges [W.] 1931:249, Fig. 5 [Der Aquarienfisch- und Naturfreund v. 2 (no. 11); ref. 35796] Amazon. No types known. Also in Ladiges 1934:12 [ref. 20522]. Could date to an earlier work of C. Brüning. Senior synonym of Hyphessobrycon pulchripinnis Ahl 1937, but name not used as valid for the last 90 years. •Synonym of Hyphessobrycon pulchripinnis Ahl 1937 -- (Lima et al. 2024:199 [ref. 40817]). Nomen Oblitum. Current status: Synonym of Hyphessobrycon pulchripinnis Ahl 1937. Acestrorhamphidae: Hyphessobryconinae. Habitat: freshwater.
