Unneeded replacement name for Macropodus opercularis spechti Schreitmüller 1936 -- see Kottelat et al. 2004:114 [ref. 27792]. Lectotype established in Paepke 1994:316 [ref. 21516] with author as Ahl 1937. Also in Ahl 1937:116 [ref. 15261]. Schindler & Staeck 2003:206 [ref. 27794] proposed to conserve the species concolor Ahl 1937 [sic]. Opinion 2145 conserved the priority of spechti over concolor Ahl 1937 [sic]. •Valid as Macropodus concolor Ahl 1936 -- (Vierke 1986:103 [ref. 36452], Vierke 1988:147 [ref. 36453], Britz & Cambray 2001:280 [ref. 25647]). •Synonym of Macropodus spechti Schreitmüller 1936 -- (Freyhof & Herder 2002:156 [ref. 26072], Kottelat et al. 2004:114 [ref. 27792], Kottelat 2013:454 [ref. 32989]).
