Syntypes: MCZ 28499 (4). •Valid as Gonichthys tenuiculus (Garman 1899) -- (Paxton 1979:11 [ref. 6440], Pequeño 1989:37 [ref. 14125] as tenuicolus, Paxton et al. in Fischer et al. 1995:1320 [ref. 22830], De La Cruz Agüero et al. 1997:234 [ref. 24545], Chirichigno F. & Vélez D. 1998:162 [ref. 24555], Love et al. 2005:44 [ref. 37547], Mundy 2005:221 [ref. 28379], Castellanos-Galindo et al. 2006:255 [ref. 28944], Fourriére et al. 2016:454 [ref. 34668]). Current status: Valid as Gonichthys tenuiculus (Garman 1899). Myctophidae: Myctophinae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Pacific coast of northern Baja California (Mexico) south to Chile; larvae straying to off southern California (U.S.A.). Habitat: marine.
