Holotype (unique): CAS-SU 46487 [ex NYZS 28621]. Type catalog: Mead 1958:133 [ref. 20648]. Males unknown. •Valid as Gigantactis perlatus Beebe & Crane 1947 -- (Bertelsen et al. 1981:41 [ref. 5330], Amaoka in Amaoka et al. 1983:119, 198 [ref. 8379], Amaoka in Masuda et al. 1984:107 [ref. 6441], Pequeño 1989:44 [ref. 14125], Pietsch 1999:2036 [ref. 24766], Nakabo 2000:469 [ref. 25086], Anderson & Leslie 2001:25 [ref. 26165], Nakabo 2002:469 [ref. 26001], Pietsch 2003:1068 [ref. 27014], Moore et al. 2003:216 [ref. 27076], Mundy 2005:275 [ref. 28379], Castellanos-Galindo et al. 2006:202 [ref. 28944], Pietsch 2009:464 [ref. 30766]). Current status: Valid as Gigantactis perlatus Beebe & Crane 1947. Gigantactinidae. Distribution: Circumglobal in tropical and subtropical seas, including Hawaiian Islands. Habitat: marine.
