Type catalog: Nielsen 1974:99 [ref. 9588]. The female designated the lectotype by Eschmeyer 1998:1518 [ref. 23416]; both the female and the parasitic male are considered types. •Valid as Edriolychnus schmidti Regan 1925 -- (Maul 1973:676 [ref. 7171], Pequeño 1989:44 [ref. 14125], McAllister 1990:230 [ref. 14674]). •Synonym of Haplophryne mollis (Brauer 1902) -- (Bertelsen in Whitehead et al. 1986:1408 [ref. 13677], Bertelsen 1990:516 [ref. 15724], Mundy 2005:276 [ref. 28379], Pietsch 2009:482 [ref. 30766]). Current status: Synonym of Haplophryne mollis (Brauer 1902). Linophrynidae. Habitat: marine.
