Holotype (unique): BMNH 1960.6.22.2 (dry). Current status: Valid as Genicanthus caudovittatus (Günther 1860). Pomacanthidae. Distribution: Red Sea; Indian Ocean: East Africa, South Africa, Madagascar and Mascarenes east to Andaman Sea and Sumatra and near Bali (western Indonesia). Habitat: marine.
