Holotype: SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 265. Paratypes: SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 517 (1). Original genus should have been Cirripectes. •Valid as Cirripectes perustus Smith 1959 -- (Shen et al. 1986:13 [ref. 13821], Williams 1988:53 [ref. 7000], Winterbottom et al. 1989:60 [ref. 13251], Myers 1999:223 [ref. 23965], Springer in Randall & Lim 2000:633 [ref. 25122], Springer 2001:3543 [ref. 26290], Allen & Adrim 2003:54 [ref. 26830], Randall 2005:486 [ref. 28239], Patzner et al. 2009:451 [ref. 30396], Allen & Erdmann 2012:807 [ref. 31980], Fricke et al. 2014:148 [ref. 33932], Fricke et al. 2018:309 [ref. 35805], Williams & Springer 2022:343 [ref. 39951]). Current status: Valid as Cirripectes perustus Smith 1959. Blenniidae: Salariinae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: East Africa (Kenya), Seychelles and Madagascar east to Caroline Islands (Federated States of Micronesia) and Kiribati, north to Philippines, south to Papua New Guinea. Habitat: marine.
