Holotype: SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 265. Paratypes: SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 517 (1). Current status: Valid as Cirripectes perustus Smith 1959. Blenniidae: Salariinae. Distribution: East Africa and Madagascar east to Caroline Islands and Kiribati, north to Philippines, south to Papua New Guinea. Habitat: marine.
