Holotype (unique): whereabouts unknown. Bleeker specimens: BMNH 1864.5.15.30 (1). Current status: Valid as Pseudocoris heteropterus (Bleeker 1857). Labridae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: Chagos Archipelago east to Philippines, New Ireland (Papua New Guinea) and Solomon Islands, north to southern Japan, south to New Caledonia. Habitat: marine.
