Paratypes: SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 136 (1), 931 (orig. 5, now 4); GCRL 15961 [ex RUSI] (1). •Synonym of Acentronura tentaculata Günther 1870 -- (Dawson 1985:17 [ref. 6541], Dawson 1986:447 [ref. 5650], Short & Trnski 2021:823 [ref. 38639]). •Valid as Acentronura mossambica Smith 1963 -- (Kuiter 2009:145 [ref. 30404], Lourie 2016:155 [ref. 34505], Fricke et al. 2018:120 [ref. 35805], Eagderi et al. 2019:132 [ref. 37020], Moots 2022:437 [ref. 39722]). Current status: Valid as Acentronura mossambica Smith 1963. Syngnathidae: Syngnathinae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: Mozambique north to Persian Gulf, including Comoro Islands. Habitat: marine.
