Holotype (unique): USNM 90285. •Valid as Botia beauforti Smith 1931 -- (Zhu 1995:121 [ref. 25213], Rainboth 1996:132 [ref. 22772], Doi 1997:15 [ref. 22832], Kottelat 1998:96 [ref. 23436], Freyhof et al. 2000:96 [ref. 25184], Kottelat 2001:88 [ref. 25780], Zhang et al. 2016:154 [ref. 34477]). •Valid as Hymenophysa beauforti (Smith 1931) -- (Nalbant 2002:317 [ref. 27361] but misspelled beaforti). •Valid as Syncrossus beauforti (Smith 1931) -- (Kottelat 2013:175 [ref. 32989], Kottelat 2015:45 [ref. 33971], Bohlen et al. 2016:17 [ref. 34628], Fu et al. 2021:9567 [ref. 39347], Taki et al. 2021:194 [ref. 39830]). Current status: Valid as Syncrossus beauforti (Smith 1931). Botiidae: Botiinae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: northern Malay Peninsula to Yunnan (China) and Vietnam. Habitat: freshwater.
