Zoology v. 1 (no. 4); ref. 15063] South Atlantic off Brazil, 21°00'S, 37°50'W at surface. Holotype (unique): BMNH 1916.3.20.106. Described from a leptocephalus larva. •Valid as Avocettina acuticeps (Regan 1916) -- (Castle 1986:193 [ref. 5644], Paxton et al. 1989:134 [ref. 12442], Smith & Nielsen 1989:448 [ref. 13290], Smith 1990:199 [ref. 13759], Trunov 1999:461 [ref. 24579] as cf. acuticeps, Smith 1999:1679 [ref. 24661], Menezes et al. in Menezes et al. 2003:36 [ref. 27192], Paxton et al. 2006:285 [ref. 28995], Smith 2008:170 [ref. 30621], Melo et al. 2009:8 [ref. 30460], Smith & Stewart 2015:264 [ref. 34234], Smith 2016:1678 [ref. 34556], Sutton et al. 2020:23 [ref. 37832], Koerber 2023:34 [ref. 40486]). Current status: Valid as Avocettina acuticeps (Regan 1916). Nemichthyidae. Distribution: Southern Hemisphere, except eastern Pacific. Habitat: marine.
