Type catalog and "neotype" designation: Kamohara 1961:2 [ref. 19282], but neotype designation was not made in a revisory work and is invalid. •Valid as Parabathymyrus macrophthalmus Kamohara 1938 -- (Asano in Masuda et al. 1984:27 [ref. 6441], Smith 1989:504 [ref. 13285], Nakabo 2000:227 [ref. 25086], Smith in Randall & Lim 2000:586 [ref. 25122], Shinohara et al. 2001:294 [ref. 25995], Nakabo 2002:227 [ref. 26001], Zhang et al. 2010:188 [ref. 31511] as Parabathymurus m., Ho et al. 2015:137 [ref. 34129], Ho et al. 2015:149 [ref. 34130], Ray et al. 2020:56 [ref. 37516], Ramos-Castro et al. 2021:517 [ref. 38842]). Current status: Valid as Parabathymyrus macrophthalmus Kamohara 1938. Congridae: Bathymyrinae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: east coast of India east to Taiwan, north to Japan, south to northern Australia. Habitat: marine.
