Paratypes: ASIZT 60503 (1); BPBM 28466 (1), 32136 (1); CAS 212411 (1); MNHN 2000-759 (1); NSMT-P 59446 (1); ROM 42764 (2), 45599 (7), 68655-56 (1, 8), 72240 (1); USNM 360977 (1). •Valid as Coryphopterus melacron Randall 2001 -- (Randall 2005:525 [ref. 28239]). •Valid as Fusigobius melacron (Randall 2001) -- (Nakabo 2002:1247 [ref. 26193], Allen & Adrim 2003:58 [ref. 26830], Hoese & Larson 2006:1652 [ref. 29097], Shibukawa 2009:270 [ref. 30449], Allen & Erdmann 2012:972 [ref. 31980], Fricke et al. 2014:165 [ref. 33932], Fricke et al. 2019:284 [ref. 36673], Moore et al. 2020:110 [ref. 37357], Parenti 2021:158 [ref. 38603]). Current status: Valid as Fusigobius melacron (Randall 2001). Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: Andaman Sea and Indonesia east to Palau and Fiji, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to Kimberley (Western Australia), Queensland (Australia) and New Caledonia. Habitat: marine.
