Holotype: USNM 213094. Paratypes: ANSP 127821 (12); FMNH 75703 (3), 75692 (1), 75794-97 (1, 32, 3, 35), 75848 (1); SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 1894 (5), 3308-09 (2, 1); USNM 205216 (4), 211584-97 (16, 23, 7, 4, 2, 12, 9, 7, 5, 5, 2, 2, 25, 5), 225693-94 (15, 7). •Valid as Apogon abrogramma Fraser & Lachner 1985 -- (Allen & Adrim 2003:34 [ref. 26830]). •Valid as Pristiapogon abrogramma (Fraser & Lachner 1985) -- (Randall 2005:210 [ref. 28239], Allen & Erdmann 2012:406 [ref. 31980] as abogramma, Fricke et al. 2014:76 [ref. 33932] as abogramma, Mabuchi et al. 2014:201 [ref. 33426], Fricke et al. 2018:173 [ref. 35805], Fricke et al. 2019:137 [ref. 36673], Fraser et al. 2022:204 [ref. 39752]). Current status: Valid as Pristiapogon abrogramma (Fraser & Lachner 1985). Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: Seychelles, Comoros, Madagascar, Chagos Archipelago and Sri Lanka east to Philippines and New Ireland (Papua New Guinea), south to Solomon Islands. Habitat: marine.
