J.] 1981:54, Figs. 56-58 [Contributions in Science (Los Angeles) No. 332; ref. 5330] Southeastern Pacific off Peru, 15°12'S, 75°44'W, Anton Bruun station 739B, depth 0-700 meters over bottom depth of 1060 meters. Holotype: MCZ 54574 [apparently not 52574]. Paratypes: IOM uncat. (1); LACM 9693-34 (1), 30284-29 (1), 32204-2 (1), 32776-2 (1), 32791-3 (1). Males unknown. •Valid as Gigantactis microdontis Bertelsen, Pietsch & Lavenberg 1981 -- (Bertelsen & Pietsch 2002:961 [ref. 26506], Love et al. 2005:62 [ref. 37547], Mundy 2005:275 [ref. 28379], Pietsch 2009:470 [ref. 30766], Prokofiev & Pietsch 2019:441 [ref. 36951], Love et al. 2021:90 [ref. 39279]). Current status: Valid as Gigantactis microdontis Bertelsen, Pietsch & Lavenberg 1981. Gigantactinidae. Distribution: Western and central Pacific: Caroline Islands (Federated States of Micronesia), Hawaiian Islands (U.S.A.); eastern Pacific: Oregon and California (U.S.A.), Peru. Habitat: marine.
