(1). •Valid as Parasphyraenops atrimanus Bean 1912 -- (Johnson & Smith-Vaniz 1987:49 [ref. 9235], Smith-Vaniz et al. 1999:216 [ref. 25013], Heemstra et al. 2003:1327 [ref. 27060], Smith-Vaniz & Collette 2013:172 [ref. 32953], Parenti & Randall 2020:121 [ref. 37354]). Current status: Valid as Parasphyraenops atrimanus Bean 1912. Serranidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Bermuda and Venezuela. Habitat: marine. incisus, Serranus Colin [P. L.] 1978:191, Figs. 1-3 [Proceedings of the Biological Society of Washington v. 91 (no. 1); ref. 8944] Piedra de Carabinero, Mona Island, Puerto Rico, depth 33 meters. Holotype: ANSP 137657. Paratypes: ANSP 137658 (1), UF 232963 [ex UMML 32963] (1), USNM 216596 (1). Type catalog: Böhlke 1984:155 [ref. 13621]. •Valid as Parasphyraenops incisus (Colin 1978) -- (Smith-Vaniz et al. 1999:217 [ref. 25013], Heemstra et al. 2003:1327 [ref. 27060], Page et al. 2013:132 [ref. 32708], Smith-Vaniz & Jelks 2014:42 [ref. 33341], Parenti & Randall 2020:121 [ref. 37354], Carvalho-Filho 2023:126 [ref. 40480], Page et al. 2023:194 [ref. 40505], Fricke et al. 2024:527 [ref. 41622]). Current status: Valid as Parasphyraenops incisus (Colin 1978). Serranidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Quintana Roo (Mexico) south to Bahia (Brazil), including Caribbean Sea. Habitat: marine. |
