Hampala macrolepidota Kuhl & van Hasselt is tentatively regarded as available. •Synonym of Hampala macrolepidota Kuhl & van Hasselt 1823. Current status: Synonym of Hampala macrolepidota Kuhl & van Hasselt 1823. Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae. Habitat: freshwater. jullieni, Heterolenciscus Sauvage [H.-E.] 1874:339 [Revue et Magasin de Zoologie (Sér. 3) v. 2 [1874]; ref. 3873] Cochinchine [? southern Vietnam]. Lectotype: MNHN 0000-8952 [or 8592]. Paralectotypes: MNHN B-2968 (4). Genus probably intended as Heteroleuciscus. Lectotype selected by Kottelat 1984:802 [ref. 11440]. •Synonym of Hampala macrolepidota Kuhl & van Hasselt 1823 -- (Kottelat 1984:802 [ref. 11440], Kottelat 2001:53 [ref. 25780], Kottelat 2013:109 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Hampala macrolepidota Kuhl & van Hasselt 1823. Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae. Habitat: freshwater. macrolepidota, Hampala Kuhl [H.] & van Hasselt [J. C.] in van Hasselt 1823:132 [Algemeene Konst- en Letter-bode voor het Jaar II Deel (no. 35); ref. 5963] Bogor, Java, Indonesia. Syntypes: RMNH 2517 (1), 2518 (1), 16411 [ex RMNH 2517] (1). Type information: Roberts 1993:16 [ref. 21799]. Perhaps available as, "The genus Hampla Nob. comes nearest to Leuciscus Cuv. but differs in having 2 filaments at each corner of the mouth; the species is figured under the name Macrolepidota Nob. and occurs near Buitenzorg" [translation from Alfred 1961 [ref. 20553]]. See Kottelat 1987:370 [ref. 5962]. Also in van Hasselt 1824:376 [ref. 5964]. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Sundaland, Chao Phraya and Mekong River basins, Thailand, Laos, Yunnan (China), Cambodia and Vietnam. Introduced in Hong Kong (China). IUCN (2019): Least Concern. Habitat: freshwater. bifasciata, Barbus hampal var. Popta [C. M. L.] 1905:173 [Notes from the Leyden Museum v. 25 (no. 4) (art. 15); ref. 3549] Bo River, Borneo, Indonesia. Holotype (unique): RMNH 0000-7612. •Synonym of Hampala macrolepidota Kuhl & van Hasselt 1823 -- (Kottelat 2013:109 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Hampala macrolepidota Kuhl & van Hasselt 1823. Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae. Habitat: freshwater. hampal, Barbus Günther [A.] 1868:139 [Catalogue of the fishes in the British Museum v. 7; ref. 1990] East Indies: Java, Borneo, Sumatra, Malay Peninsula. Syntypes: (at least 7) BMNH 1860.3.19.373 (1, LHS skin), 1862.2.4.20 (1), 1862.11.1.243-244 (2). Based on literature sources and specimens, perhaps not a replacement of macrolepidotus. •Synonym of Hampala macrolepidota Kuhl & van Hasselt 1923 -- (Kottelat 2013:109 [ref. 32989]).
