Type catalog and "neotype" designation: Kamohara 1961:8 [ref. 19282], but neotype designation was not made in a revisory work and is invalid. •Valid as Pseudocepola taeniosoma Kamohara 1935 -- (Machida in Masuda et al. 1984:201 [ref. 6441], Mok 1988:507 [ref. 12752], Nakabo 2000:914 [ref. 25182], Shinohara et al. 2001:327 [ref. 25995], Nakabo 2002:914 [ref. 26193]). •Valid as Owstonia taeniosoma (Kamohara 1935) -- (Smith-Vaniz & Johnson 2016:88 [ref. 34879], Jhan & Ho in Koeda & Ho 2019:984 [ref. 42393], Su & Ho 2025:77 [ref. 42628]). Current status: Valid as Owstonia taeniosoma (Kamohara 1935). Cepolidae: Owstoniinae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Andaman Sea, Taiwan north to southern Japan, Australia and New Caledonia. Habitat: marine.
