Original genus should have been Thymallus. Neotype designated by Bravničar et al. 2020:174 [ref. 38025]. •Synonym of Thymallus thymallus (Linnaeus 1758) -- (Kottelat 1997:156 [ref. 22952]). •Valid as Thymallus aeliani Valenciennes 1848 -- (Bianco 2013:6 [ref. 32897], Geiger et al. 2014:Table S2 [ref. 37408], Dyldin et al. 2017:107 [ref. 35967], Persat et al. 2019:233 [ref. 37049], Lorenzoni et al. 2019:253 [ref. 37108], Bravničar et al. 2020:174 [ref. 38025], Weiss et al. 2020:[3] [ref. 37974]). Current status: Valid as Thymallus aeliani Valenciennes 1848. Salmonidae: Thymallinae. Distribution: Southern Europe: Northern Adriatic basin (Italy and Slovenia). Habitat: freshwater.
