oligolepis, Barbus tauricus Battalgil [F.] 1941:178 [Revue de la Faculté des Sciences de l'Université d'Instanbul, Série B: Sciences Naturelles v. 6 (nos 1-2); ref. 13194] Simav River at Bursa, Asia Minor. No types known. A secondary junior homonym of Capoeta oligolepis Beeker 1853, but Bleeker's species is now placed in Oliotius, so both species names are available (Turan et al. 2009:18 [ref. 29999]). •Synonym of Barbus tauricus Kessler 1877 -- (Bogutskaya et al. in Bănărescu & Bogutskaya 2003:397 [ref. 27353]). •Valid as Barbus oligolepis Battalgil 1941 -- (Turan et al. 2009:16 [ref. 29999], Çiçek et al. 2015:144 [ref. 35151], Çiçek et al. 2018:5 [ref. 36267], Turan et al. 2018:542 [ref. 36092], Çiçek et al. 2020:247 [ref. 37644], Güçlü et al. 2021:125 [ref. 38911], Çiçek et al. 2023:366 [ref. 40625], Çiçek et al. 2024:151 [ref. 40789]). Current status: Valid as Barbus oligolepis Battalgil 1941. Cyprinidae: Barbinae. Distribution: Asia Minor: Marmara Sea tributaries, Bursa Province (Turkey). Habitat: freshwater.
