Centrina Cuvier [G.] 1816:130 Fem. Squalus centrina Linnaeus 1758. Type by absolute tautonymy (but possibly by monotypy). Centrina also was used by Risso 1827:135 and others, possibly independently described [not investigated]. Swainson 1838 spelled as Centrinus, possibly independently selected. Also appeared as new (sensu Athenaeus) in Billberg 1833:52 [ref. 34146]; see Kullander 2016:109 [ref. 34147]. •Objective synonym of Oxynotus Rafinesque 1810 -- (Krefft & Tortonese 1973:35 [ref. 7165], Compagno 1984:124 [ref. 6474], Cappetta 1987:59 [ref. 6348]).
