Atopichthys Garman [S.] 1899:326 Masc. Atopichthys esunculus Garman 1899. Type by subsequent designation. Spelled Atopichthyes on p. 325 and once in list of figures. Regarded as an available genus-group name as a collective group. Type designated by Jordan 1920:486 [ref. 4905]. Based on Glossodonta Cuvier 1815, not available. The species Glossodus forskalii is an unneeded substitute for A. glossodonta.
