Distribution: Western Atlantic: Massachusetts (U.S.A.) and Bermuda south to northern Argentina, including Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea; eastern Atlantic: Mauritania south to Angola, including Cape Verde Islands and São Tomé and Principe. IUCN (2017): Least Concern. Habitat: brackish, marine.
