Distribution: Red Sea; Indo-West Pacific: Western Cape, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), East Africa, Persian Gulf, Seychelles, Madagascar and Mascarenes (La Réunion, Mauritius, Rodrigues) east to Philippines, north to southern Sea of Japan (Korea, Japan), south to Rottnest Island (Western Australia) and Tuross River (New South Wales, Australia). Habitat: brackish, marine.
