Lectotype: NMW 92790. Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:280 [ref. 29155]. Based on H. calmoni of Steindachner 1907 from R. Itapucú. Described as H. [Hemipsilichthys] steindachneri but under a new genus Pareiorhaphis. Apparently intended as one of three species of the newly proposed genus Parieophaphis, but Hemipsilichthys probably should be considered the original genus, as the only reference to the name is "H. steindachneri Mir.
